QFX10002 Fixed Ethernet Switches

High-performance, highly versatile switches for the data center.

The QFX10002 line of switches offers highly scalable, high-density platforms. It provides a powerful foundation for supporting today’s most demanding data center environments—all in a compact, 2 U form factor.

Compared to shallow-buffer switches, the QFX10002 features a deep buffer with Hybrid Memory Cube (HMC) to absorb network traffic spikes and reduce application latency. Additionally, QFX10002 fixed-configuration switches offer investment protection by supporting 10GbE, 40GbE, and 100GbE in the same platform, giving you the flexibility to easily transition as demands evolve.

To meet your business requirements, both software and hardware must work together as parts of a unified network. The QFX10002 switches provide the foundation of the underlying data center infrastructure for Contrail Networking, a platform that enables automated policies and life-cycle management of data center fabrics. Contrail Networking abstracts the network connectivity using virtual overlays across legacy and cloud-native workloads running servers attached to QFX Series switches.

QFX10002

The QFX10002 switches, which use our custom silicon Q5 ASICs, come in three models:

  • QFX10002-36Q: This switch has 2 U 36x40GbE or 12x100GbE ports providing throughput of up to 2.88 Tbps. It’s ideally suited for data center spine and core deployments.
  • QFX10002-72Q: With 2 U 72x40GbE or 24x100GbE ports providing throughput of up to 5.76 Tbps, this switch works well for data center spine and core deployments.
  • QFX10002-60C: Offering 2 U 60x100GbE ports with throughput of up to 6 Tbps, this switch can be used for data center spine, data center edge, and Data Center Interconnect (DCI)

The QFX10002 supports a diverse set of deployment options, including L3 spine-and-leaf Clos fabrics, Junos Fusion Data Center, and multichassis link aggregation (MC-LAG). When deployed in an MC-LAG configuration in traditional L2 networks, the QFX10002 eliminates the need for Spanning Tree Protocol by ensuring complete bandwidth utilization between access and aggregation layers. The QFX10002 also allows you to deploy overlay networks that provide L2 adjacencies for applications over L3 fabrics.
